Limits

“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil” Hebrews 6:19

Limits are set by rules or ourselves. We have limits in what we can do physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. These boundaries are often set before us to keep us safe, hence the need for regulations. However, those are very few in the big scheme of things. We usually place more limits and boundaries on ourselves as fail-safes if we were to go too far. As well as setting limits based on our desired level of output. Meaning we limit ourselves out of a lack of desire.

Lack of desire can come from many places. Past failures can cause us to limit ourselves. Fear causes us to create unrealistic boundaries. Low self-esteem is another reason we create “safe” boundaries. Realistically, a fear of sharks keeps you from being bitten. A past failure can cause us to be realistic and evaluate the need for more training. To a degree, these are not bad. They become bad when you place roadblocks, limits, in your faith that God never put there.

Limits don’t keep you from being a bodybuilder, triathlon runner, the best co-worker, an owner of a business or company, and a faithful working Christian. You do. You keep yourself from such achievements. I get it. It’s hard to do things when you are unsure what the outcome will be. But there is more to life than what you can see. When you limit yourself to your eyesight or mindset, you will miss some of the greatest blessings in Christ

You do know that we don’t know what Heaven is like? Yet, we live for it every day. If we can do that, what is stopping you from doing more for Him? Your self-made limits. We do not have the time to look at all the examples of God using His faithful servants to do more than they could ever imagine. However, in almost every instance, they discussed with God why they couldn’t because of their limits. They also did things out of a lack of faith because they saw their limits and not God’s. What could you do for God in the name of Christ if you did not limit yourself? Stop limiting yourself in Christ. You will be shocked at what will happen next when you do!
