What To Expect When
On Sunday morning, Sunday Evening, and Wednesday evening, the Maysville family meets to worship our God. We believe that God's church must worship according to the pattern established in the Bible. Therefore, we neither add to nor take away from the instructions and examples of worship found in the New Testament.
It is for this reason that we do not add man-made ceremonies to our worship. Below are five items which are a part of our collective worship.
-
A Capella Singing
In our worship, we sing without the aid of mechanical instruments. Since this was the custom of the New Testament church acceptable to God, we sing "A Capella". Instrumental worship was first introduced into religious worship around the sixth century and was initially opposed by the religious leaders of the day.
A number of verses in the Bible describe Christians singing with their hearts and voices. A few include:
Acts 16:25 | Eph. 5:18,19 | Col. 3:16 | Heb. 2:12

Praying
Our prayers are directed towards God acknowledging that He is the only true God as we make our confessions and petitions to God.

-
Preaching
God's word is read and spoken at each worship service. It is important to us to read the scripture and teach what it says instead of teaching an opinion.
-
Communion
Each Sunday, the first day of the week, we partake of the Lord's supper comprised of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine. We observe this in memory of our Savior's death, burial, and resurrection wherein lies our hope. This is observed weekly in accordance with Bible verses such as:
Acts 20:7 "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them ..."
-
Giving
Each Sunday, money is contributed by our members to support the work of the church. The money is used to help those in need, support missionaries, pay salaries of the local minister, minister to our congregation, and maintain our local building and grounds. As a visitor, you are not expected and will not be asked to contribute. However, we leave the decision to give to your private discretion.
