What's On Your Mind?

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:2

There is a prominent perspective in the field of physiology that one can think oneself into any mental state, except in cases of significant chemical imbalances in the brain. For instance, you can think yourself into depression—or out of it. You can think yourself into happiness and out of it as well. I believe this is a biblical concept.

God says your mind is transformed in Him. This means the way we take information, process it, and act on it changes when we are in Him. This also means that you have power over your mind. Although this is not a popular thought, it is a biblical one. When you control the input of information and its processing, your actions follow suit.

I suppose there is the question. What is on your mind? Whatever fills that quiet space with noise is what is driving you. We don’t consider this much when we find ourselves symptomatic physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We simply seek the cure for the symptoms, not the eradication of the poison at its source. Grabbing a quick fix and ignoring any deeper or self-perpetuated issues. Often, the quick fix is sin. The long-term solution is a Christ-like mind.

For example, consider that worry or anxiety is on your mind. It will affect your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical state. If it is about work, money, kids, family, friends, or anything else, it will affect you, too. I hope you see the importance of what captivates your mind. If it is not God, you will not have godly results in your life. What is on your mind?
