Peacemaker

In a world full of disagreement, hate, and speaking your mind, as followers of Christ, we must seek to establish peace. In Jesus’ sermon on the mount in Matthew 5, He speaks about those who will be blessed. Verse 9 says “blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”
I get it… it’s frustrating to see transgenderism, homosexuality, murder, lawlessness, false accusations, and many other sinful behaviors rampant in our society today. We must take a stand for truth as Jesus’ disciples, yes. We stand for grace too since that is what Jesus came to bring (John 1:17).

I believe that one practical way of becoming peaceful is to do what Paul said in Philippians 4:8: “Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” When we focus on these things, the fruit of our Spirit will become evident in a world full of darkness.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you that, do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” Matthew 5:38. Mahatma Ghandi is quoted saying “an eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.”
So, in this world, please be a peacemaker. It’s a part of what Christ is calling us to be.
