One out of Ten

How many of you have a Facebook account? I am assuming more than 50% of us do. I love Facebook because I can sell items on there but also keep up with people’s lives. (Sometimes people talk wayyy too much about their life.) When I am bored, I will get on there and watch the random reels that pop up. There was one that came up and it was a young man walking around a major city, asking people if he could ask them questions about God. I am assuming you can already see how that went. Some people avoided him and brushed him off. Some were hesitant. But there were very few that were eager to jump right into the questionnaire. So, finally, the young man found people that were willing to answer some questions. Basic questions like “Do you believe in God?” and “Can you name 5 books of the Bible?” Most people did just fine with the questions, until the last one. The young man asked, “On a scale of 1-10, what are your chances to make it to heaven?” Most every person was hesitant to answer this. Most people gave the answer of 5-7, being somewhat confident that they were going to make it to heaven but also second guessing themselves.

The young man kept going around and finally stumbled across this older gentleman. He asked and proceeded to go through all the questions.

Finally, it came to the last question. “On a scale of 1-10, what are your chances of making it to heaven?” The old man looked at him confusingly and didn’t answer. Finally, he asked, “Is this a trick question?” The young man replied, “No sir, just a 1 out of 10 question.” The old man went about thinking how best to answer this one. Finally, he told the young man, “Son, I think you are asking the wrong question. Shouldn’t this be a yes or no response?” The young man looked at him confused and asked “How so, it’s just a simple 1 out of 10 question. You only have to give me a number like 7.” The old man laughed and said, “That’s funny, I didn’t know Jesus died for only 70% of my sins.”

1 John 2:2 - “He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

1 Peter 2:24 – “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

It’s truly sad to see so many people on this earth that don’t have an understanding of what it takes to make it to heaven. Most people will only give half their life to God. Don’t let your chance be a 1 out of 10. Be the YES.
