Don't Justify

“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.”

1 Corinthians 16:13

We can justify anything. It is possible to come up with an argument and sources to justify anything we do. I could cite 100 sources to support evolution or little gods. That does not make it true. The source of the source should come into play. It doesn’t matter really; it just highlights the reality of your argument.

If you want to justify sin, go right ahead. We like to act and adjust based on our surroundings. We use our surroundings as an excuse. We use things like “It's our culture” and “Our times have changed.” Funny, I read and see a lot of similarities to our current cultures and times in the Bible. What was their excuse? The same thing. God didn’t respect those complaints against doing His word. Why? He is bigger. In Him, those things do not matter. He won’t respect yours either.

If we do not rely on God for strength to stay faithful, we will die. Excuses, justifications, and debating only perpetuate the bondage of sin in our lives. They allow us to sleep at night holding conflicting ideas. Be not fooled by your own reasoning in your heart. God does not take kindly to lukewarmness. In Him, you are with Him or against Him. There is no space for our foolish arguments of why His way is wrong and ours is right.

Only be bold and strong in Christ. When asked the reason why we do this, we are to teach the Bible. The perfect unadulterated truth is our justification for the life we now live in Christ. Be brave, be strong, and stand fast in the faith. Stay in Him and live by His word. That is where we have eternal life.

We should never justify lousy behavior or sinfulness for any reason. Have you ever wondered how sin can give birth to death? It’s justification. You justify this sin or action in your life for this one moment or situation. Then the next time, you expand that lie, justification, to fit this new situation. Then, before you know it, you are just dead bones walking around. Please do yourself a favor and don’t justify it; get out of it!
